Judaism

â—‹ is one of the world’s oldest religions, originating around 3,500 years ago.

â—‹ speaks of “Israel” in the same way that Christians speak out of the “Church”

â—‹ is also known as the founder of monastic religion of the world

          The Holy writings of the Jews are compiled in book called the Torah (5 books of Moses). It is important because it forms the critical component of Judaism. It also contains the early history of Judaism, as well as the law and teaching “handed down” to Moses by Yahweh or God himself.

â—‹ comes from Yehuda or Juda, the southern kingdom of Israel

Now, it is used to refer someone who practices Judaism and takes part in Jewish culture.

They call their God as YHWH (Yahweh).

Branches of Judaism select Jews along ethnic lines according to their birth.

COMSERVATIVE JUDAISM

â—‹ defines the Jew as being born of a Jewish mother.

REFORM JUDAISM

â—‹ traces it to either Jewish rather or mother.

         The Star of David is a symbol of Judaism as a religion and of the whole Jewish people. It is thought to be the shield of Kind David.

Spiritual leaders of Judaism are called Rabbis. They worship their God in a place called synagogues.

       There are also three pilgrimage festivals in Judaism such as Passover (Pesach), Weeks or Pentecost (Shavuot), and Tabernacles, Tents or Booths (Sukkot).
